 Who was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru?

Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru's grandfather's name was Gangadhar Nehru and father's name was Motilal Nehru and mother's name was Swarooprani, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was a man of a wealthy family, who was married to Kamala Nehru.  The only child of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was his daughter Indira Gandhi, who was married to Feroze Gandhi.  Jawaharlal Nehru was not only a dynamic leader but also a great orator and a great writer, He was the first prime minister of Independent India. He is said to have been one of the world's famous writers if he had not turned towards politics.  He wrote many books.  His books - "India is a discovery", "A glimpse of world history", "Autobiography and father's letter to daughter's name" - show his writing ability.

His education:-
Jawaharlal was born on 14 November 1889 in Allahabad.  He got his initial education at home by private teachers and Aya.  He was later enrolled at Harrow Public School in England.  He was educated in Harrow and Cambridge.  In 1912, he obtained a law degree.

 After completion of the studies of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru -

After completing his studies in England, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru came back to India and started practicing in Allahabad (Prayagraj) High Court.  But he was not interested in the profession of advocacy. He was interested in politics. Jawaharlal played an active role in politics.  They are dear disciples of Mahatma Gandhi.

 Pandit Nehru loved children very much.  The children used to call him affectionately as "uncle".  He is remembered as 'Chacha Nehru'.  He was not only a great scholar, but had a good knowledge of Indian culture.  His birthday is celebrated with great respect and enthusiasm every year as "Children's Day" is celebrated all over India.


 Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1955. On 27 May 1964, Pandit Nehru died (from a heart attack).
